You must have a hunting license to hunt any of Montana's game animals. Effective October 1, 2003, to purchase a Montana hunting license, any person born after January 1, 1985 must show a certificate of completing a hunter education course issued by:
Montana, any other state, or any Canadian province.
Hunter education is NOT required if you were born on or prior to January 1, 1985.
To hunt pheasants or chukar on a Joy of Hunting seminar, you will need a 3-day preserve license plus prerequisite (currently a Conservation License), which we will organize for you. The cost is included in the course.
To hunt waterfowl, you will need a state waterfowl license and federal stamp (which we can help organize). However, because we don't know if waterfowl hunting will be an option (depending on availability of waterfowl) we don't include this in the course cost.
You will still be able to take the seminar if you do not have Hunter Safety (and need it) but you will not be able to hunt. You will still learn heaps on the course even if you can't shoot a live bird so come and begin your hunting adventure with us.
