Living a Natural Paleo lifestyle

When we discovered the Paleo Diet, we became converts.  It answered our need for a way of eating that kept the weight off, kept our immune systems healthy, and that made us less at risk for lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and even some forms of cancer.  It was also a perfect fit for our hunter-gatherer lifestyle and how we see ourselves in relation to our environment.

We saw a connection between algae in water and obesity in humans, where excess intake of nutrients damages the health of both.  So we set up a water stewardship model at Shepherd where we  recycle nutrients while providing healthy food for ourselves.  

​We also have a world-class pheasant hunt for the size of our property!

We want to share our thinking on water quality with you, pass on what we know about managing land for wildlife (including predator control).  We also value getting to know you, learning from and about your lives, and spending time together in a  quiet place, overlooking one of the most beautiful rivers in the West - and sharing great Paleo food with you!​

Land Stewardship

Learn our hard-won strategies for converting our small property from bare farm ground to one of the most productive wild-pheasant hunts on the globe (per acre).  A few days studying our success can save you countless hours and dollars on your own land!

Water Stewardship

Learn from our vast experience and passion around water quality and fishery enhancement, while enjoying the fastest fishing in Montana (on average, one fish every two minutes!).  Fish for bluegill, yellow perch, black crappie and catfish from a floating island!
